The Challenge
From January to May of 2019, we challenged UNC graduate students, post-docs, lab managers, and P.I.s to reduce energy use in lab freezers.
By adopting efficient, effective sample storage practices, labs across UNC’s campus saved 1,416,492 KW/yr. In other words, UNC research facilities reduced yearly energy usage on campus by the equivalent of 120 average American homes!
This year, UNC Green Labs has collaborated with the MyGreenLabs International Freezer Challenge. For more information on this competition, please visit their website.
