There is No Why in Waste and UNC Freezer Challenge Winner Award

May 15, 2019 @ 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Free

On May 15, in Bioinformatics 1131, Allison Paradise, CEO of My Green Lab, will present “There is no Why in Waste: Transforming Research Labs into Sustainable Spaces.”
My Green Lab is a non-profit dedicated to creating a culture of sustainability through science. The organization works with academia, biopharma, and hospitals to reduce the environmental impact of their laboratories

The presentation title refers to the fact that waste – be it energy, water, or other waste – usually only arises when we do not stop to question our behavior. Asking why, such as ‘why is equipment left on overnight?’ leads to insights that reduce waste. This seminar will provide simple, concrete steps that can be taken to reduce the environmental impact of research. Don’t miss it!

Don’t miss it especially if your lab participated in the UNC Freezer Challenge, because it will be followed by the announcement of the UNC Freezer Challenge winner!
